Okay, so maybe teppanyaki isn’t the best…

by Thomas on Mar.30, 2006, under General Ramblings

according to this article at azcentral.com, two kids got burned at a teppanyaki restaurant in Ahwatukee..

Seems the standard ‘flaming volcano’ was a little too close, and burned them. Ouch.

Happy Birthday, Apple…

by Thomas on Mar.28, 2006, under General Ramblings

So. April 1st will be Apple Computer’s 30th Birthday.

I have to admit, I thought that the days were numbered with Apple during the mid-1990′s, before Steve Jobs came back. But his vision has turned the company around, and their stuff is second to none.

I had one Aunt that would call me with Windows questions quite regularly. Not that I didn’t mind, but I knew it caused issues for her, too, as she couldn’t use her computer some of time.

I suggested to her a year ago that she might want to think about getting an Apple, and she did. And I really don’t hear from her that often anymore. (Well, about computer issues. :) )

So, happy Birthday Apple! Keep up the good work! And send me a Video IPod.

The Story of Tron..

by Thomas on Mar.17, 2006, under Uncategorized

Okay, I’m a geek. I’ll admit it. I’m actually sure it comes as no surprise to most of you.

One of the movies as a kid that really motivated me even more towards computers was TRON.

Yeah, the story is pretty lame, even by 1982 standards. But seeing it when I was a lone lad of 9, seeing it in San Bruno, CA at the Hyatt Cinema Theatre, on my 9th birthday, no less, it was cool.

And of course, for those of you that poo-poo this movie, remember that John Lasseter, creator of such movies as Toy Story and Finding Nemo, credits this movie for him getting into computer animation and really thinking about where it could take motion pictures.

Click “Read More..” to read about the history of this ground breaking film, and you might learn something.

..off to play TRON and Discs of TRON in MAME..

Once again, not dead..

by Thomas on Mar.16, 2006, under General Ramblings

Believe it or not, we’re not dead.

Quite the contrary, actually. In case you’re an old fart without kids, you might not even know that this week is Spring Break. Woo hoo. Or something like that.

So, what do we do on our Spring Break?

Nope, believe it or not, we didn’t going to Disneyland.

The wife is actually in Houston, Texas visiting some college friends.

Which means I’m at home, just chillin.

Just trying to catch up on sleep, and burn up some vacation time I’ll probably lose at the end of the year anyway..

Check out this project I did a little work on for a certain company. Pretty cool.

Album of the Week: On an Island by David Gilmour. Not too bad, if you’re a fan of his guitar style.

Game of the Week: Burnout Revenge for XBOX. It’s just nice to cause a massive wreck, and see how much it costs to fix it. Good times.

Camera of the Week: Kodak P880. Picked up one of these this week. It’s a nice contrast between picking up an DSLR, and the ‘point and shoot’ small cameras. The 8-megapixel images are great, and it’s battery life is very good. All in all, been pretty happy with it.

Peas out.

I swear…

by Thomas on Mar.05, 2006, under General Ramblings

this isn’t me.

According to a recent survey (read it here.), 10% of telecommuters wear nothing at all while working at home.

Nice.

Well, I usually wear shorts. But working naked? I hope they own a lot of towels to put on stuff.

Ick.
