…including, it seems to a point, Alzheimer’s.
So it looks like the icedlatte.com team is going to be heading to that city by the bay, San Francisco. It’s always good times to head there. In case you didn’t know, I was born there, (well, a suburb of San Fran: San Bruno.), but I have to say I’m glad we moved. I like to visit, but wouldn’t want to live there. (Never say never, though.)
So we’re going to visit some friends, have some food, probably play some games, and instead of breaking bread, probably sharing a bag of candy with Steph. “While in Rome.”)
One root canal and filling later…

…and I feel great.
Harris Dental is a great dentist, if you’re looking for one in the QC. I thought I was there for about 2 hours, but according to the wife later, it was more like 4 hours. I didn’t think I slept through most of it, but turns out I did. Nice.
After getting home at noon, I didn’t wake up until 6pm, with no pain.
Good times.
Ow.

So I woke up Saturday morning with a toothache. Hoping it would go away (is that even possible?) I went to the dentist this morning.
Of course, I haven’t been in quite awhile. Like, a long while. Like, too long. So I was expecting the worst. (“Just pull ‘em and give me dentures.”)
Turns out I have a few cavitities, but they just need fillings, no crowns.
But tomorrow I get to have a double root canal with fillings. This dentist, though, (Harris Dental in the QC. One of the best dentists rated in Phoenix Magzine.) pretty much knocks you out when you go in, so pain shouldn’t be an issue.
Hopefully all back to normal Thursday, though.
Phones are like shoes…

..to me. I like to upgrade often.
I guess it started with the Treo 650. I enjoyed it, it was a good phone, ran Palm, and it worked well.
I used that for a couple of years, it seems. Then I decided to switch to Pocket PC format, or basically Windows Mobile.
I upgraded to the PPC-6700 for about 3 days. It wasn’t bad, but there were issues with it that I just didn’t like. Sooooooooooo. I took it back.
Then I decided to use a Blackberry for awhile. The 8703e I used for months. Good phone, it worked well, but Blackberry is great for email. Not so great if you want to customize it or run other programs.
Once again, back to the Pocket PC platform, which I upgraded to the Mogul. I actually did a review of it back in June of 2007. This phone was pretty good, but had some issues about the memory in it. (Pocket PC phones can run multiple programs at once. When you close the window, it doesn’t end the program, so you can run into issues.)
But it left me yearning for the years of the Palm. So I went on Craigslist and bought a used Treo 755p.
The 755p was not bad. But it made me realize how old the Palm platform is getting. It wouldn’t sync with my Outlook unless I used a program I had to buy. The browser in it was awful. It didn’t support EVDO Rev A.
So, when I found a deal on the Touch Pro, I decided to upgrade once again.
This device, while not perfect, is pretty nice. Pocket PC. Lots of RAM. A great camera. Slide out keyboard. WiFi. A great screen.
Yeah, I like it a lot. As a phone, it’s also excellent. I will admit, though that it has two faults: battery life could be better, and there is no dedicated button to bring up the camera. But without those two faults, it’s pretty nice.
Now, Palm finally announced their new platform, WebOS, and their new phone, the Palm Pre. Stupid name, but it does look interesting. And, of course, it comes out later this year on Sprint.
Maybe might sell a few phones on Craigslist? hmmmm.

I hope it’s a better year for people’s job and the economy as a whole. We’ve been very blessed in that regard, but I know some people haven’t been.
Of course, that also means back to work on Monday. Good times. It was nice being on vacation, but it will be good to be back to work, even if that means getting out of bed before 11am.
With that, Pinal County’s new Sheriff, who was just elected, has already done one thing he pledged: get rid of photo radar in Pinal County. I’m glad to see he followed through on that, and removed it. I totally agree with his reasons for doing it: It’s all about money, and zero about safety.
