Yep, still in Sac town. Or whatever the locals call it.
As far as training goes, it’s good. It’s Cisco PIX, so that’s always fun stuff.
But, I do miss the wife. It sucks to be gone this long, but it’s part of the job, isn’t it?

Training is always fun, especially when you get to go out of town. But it does suck to have to be away from the little lady. (ie: the wife)
It’s also interesting to finally meet coworkers that you’ve been talking to on the phone for the last 2 years, but never met in person. You have a picture of them in your mind, but usually, it’s nothing like what you hear. (They probably hear my voice and think others things too, so I guess that goes boths ways.)
And, Sacramento is friggin’ hot. Like, AZ hot. 102 when we arrived, and it was about that yesterday. I need a trip to LA or San Diego to clear this hot weather from my palette.
If you’re ever in Sacramento, though, stay at the Larkspur Landing. Nice place. (And free high-speed internet! Sweet!)
Off to class.

So tomorrow morning I head out on my next adventure, training in wonderful Sacramento. Actually, according to the temps on weather.com, it’s pretty much the same as Phoenix.. Just a few degrees cooler. (Big Whoop!)
It’ll be cool to finally meet some of my coworkers, but it sucks being away from the wife. We both hate it.

They actually got here at 10:30am today to start fixing the line. Quite impressive, since I didn’t even call Qwest until 7pm Friday evening. So that’s pretty cool.
Turns out the wiring got pulled in our Apartment’s phone closet, causing it to go out. Quite annoying, though, since this is the second time that’s happened. You think they’d be a little more careful about the wires. (And it never happens to the Cox line, just the Qwest.. hmmm.)
Oh well. Back with high-speed Internet. Got to love it.

So we came back from house-sitting to discover that my business line and DSL have been off for a week.. Not a good thing to greet us.
No dialtone, nothing. Of course, if you call the office number, it rings just fine, just doesn’t seme to ring here in the house.
It’s a complicated matter of the phone system, since according to our apartment, Cox Communications owns the wiring, but our DSL and office phone is with Qwest. So it’s a big hassle, and this is the second time it’s happened.
So I’m on {speedy} dialup. 50K, according to Dial-up Networking, but I really don’t believe it. It feels much slower.
Supposedly, it will be back up by 7pm tomorrow, but I really don’t believe it.

No biggie. So I’m 30. Don’t I get a discount on car rental, or something? No. That’s 25. You have to wait until you hit your ‘golden’ years to start to get the good discounts, like at Denny’s and at the local car wash.
It turned out to be a surprise party at Jillian’s, and that was pretty cool. Kudo’s to the wife for setting it up.
So the wife got me XM Radio. It’s pretty sweet. With a receiver that you can switch between in the car and the house, and it works good. The quality of the sound is actually very good, and with a butt-load of channels, it will be nice.
Now we’re getting ready to head back to Chandler, and hang out at the pad.

Yep, wee.. I’m thirty. Does it really matter? Not really. I didn’t turn into a pumpkin when I woke up, or find grey hairs.

I can take one of these.. or even just one of these. I have cheap tastes, don’t I?

So it’s going to look like a fun day today.. Woke up at 8am, and already started getting calls for help by 9. Then, of course, I have to be at the office at 9pm for a network change. Fun, fun, fun.
Wishing we could get out of town this weekend, but that doesn’t look like it could happen.
So yeah, I need a vacation.

There is nothing like watching those old “Match Game” shows from the 70’s. Man oh man, how far we’ve come(?)
So the birthday inches closer, and I’m okay about it. Yeah, I’m turning 30. Yeah, I’m getting old. But that’s okay. It’s not really that old, anyways, is it? IS IT?!?!
Haven’t been in a game playing mood lately. No time for BF:1942. Hopefully soon.
Checked out the IMAX version of Matrix. Man oh man, it’s great.
