Being broke.. fun, fun, fun…..

Posted by Thomas on 28 Aug 2003 | Tagged as: General Ramblings

So we’re still broke. I could stop here and rant about how it really stinks about how much teacher’s get paid, but I won’t. (BUT MAN, THEY DON’T GET PAID MUCH!) Especially this year, as they’ve raised how much the teacher’s have to pay for their retirement. I’ve even had to cut back on the fun stuff, like Starbucks. That’s life, though. It just seems like when it rains, it pours. But what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger, right?

Still trying to fight the snails in the fishtank. I think I’m just going to have to take everything out of the tank, and smush all of them. I hope that works. It’s amazing how many there are.

Just watching the MTV Music awards, and Chris Rock’s joke kinda bombed.

Car batteries.. gotta love them.

So it turns out that the battery in the Explorer wasn’t doin too good.. Basically, it was sounding worse and worse when you went to start the car. (Boy, this is interesting stuff, eh? I know you came to my website to hear me rant about car batteries.. I just know it!)

So off to Sears to purchase another car battery. Fun stuff.

But other than that, just another week in the household.

Alive, I AM ALIVE!

Yep, it’s true. Just working like a madman, and trying to catch up on sleep when I’m not.

Snails. I hate them. That’s the last time I buy aquarium plants from PetsMart. After searching the Internet, it seems to be a common issue with PetsMart’s aquarium plants. Of course, I found that out too late, and now they seem to be everywhere in the tank. Not fun.

TRON 2.0 comes out today! Happy day! Of course, I’m broke, so I’ll have to wait to pick it up later, but that’s fine.

It’s Wednesday

..finally. Man, this week just keeps chugging on.

As I write this, I’m just hanging out on a conference call. At least in my job, I get to work from home, so things like gas shortages really don’t mean much to me. I’m really lucky in that respect.

My cell phone is slowly dying, I know it. As a matter of fact, the buttons are peeling like they have a bad sunburn or something. Sprint says “You must have spilled something on it”, but never did, and I know other people had the same problem as well. And the reception sucks, and I could go on and on, but I won’t bore you with the details.

The wonderful world of a gas shortage…

Posted by Thomas on 19 Aug 2003 | Tagged as: General Ramblings

Yes, the Phoenix area is in the middle of a gas shortage.. Who would have thunk, eh?

Luckily, I had already fueled up the ‘91 Toyota pickup, so that’s good for awhile. Unfortunately, our 2000 V8 Ford Explorer loves the fuel. We’ve been running it down, and this evening the wife only had to wait 15 minutes for a pump, while paying a little over $2. Not too bad. But man, it’s ridiculous. And some places were charging $3 and up! Now that’s highway robbery. Of course, stupid people pay it. But they deserve that. You can drive somewhere else!

So it’s back to work. We had a nice storm this morning, and it really cooled off the air. But now it’s muggy as all get out.

I added a short video showing California Adventure’s California Screamin’ launch. (Say that three times fast.) It’s available here.

Updates, updates, updates.

So it’s been a few days. Guess I should update this thing, before people tell me, “YOU NEVER UPDATE!”. Yeah, yeah yeah.

The wife went back to work this week, with the ‘kids’ starting school today. I do miss her, it’s nice having her around, and even better having a ‘lunch buddy’. But we needed the money, so I forced her to go back. (Okay, it was nothing like that, but it sounded really manly, didn’t it?)

With that, hopefully with the new school year starting, that also means it’s going to start cooling off soon. We had a rain storm last night that dropped the temp over 10 degrees, so that’s always cool. But we could use some cooler temperatures. My pale-white skin just wasn’t made for heat like this, I tell ya.

It’s really hot..

Posted by Thomas on 11 Aug 2003 | Tagged as: General Ramblings

Only in Phoenix would you have a heat advisory. It’s just too hot. We helped some family friends move stuff this weekend, and man, it was scorching. But that’s okay.

I’ve added a few pictures to the desktop backgrounds section. A few more from Disneyland. Surprise, surprise, I know.

Other than that, not much to report.

“I’m surrounded by friggin’ idiots..”

Yep, that’s how I feel sometimes. Especially when you have a request to join an 8:30am testing call, and they don’t have their ducks in a row, or whatever that stupid saying is. It’s really quite annoying.

This is valuable sleep time that I’m missing out on. I’m ready for [another] vacation.

So what else is going on, you may ask? Well, not a whole lot. Cassie is getting ready to start school again on Monday, and I’m working. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? You know you want my life.

Background pictures, better latte than never.

So I finally got around to adding some decent desktop backgrounds to the gallery. They’re only of Disney stuff right now, (surprise, surprise), but hey, you take pictures of what you know, you know?

So visit the background gallery here: http://www.icedlatte.com/gallery/backgrounds

Oh no.. This can’t happen..

They’re trying to pass some espresso tax up in Seattle (See the story here.)

Well, I don’t live in Seattle, mind you. But still. It’s the principle of the thing. And if they start doing it in the capital of coffee, Seattle, then Phoenix is next. (or 30 states down the road. But you get the point.)

Of course, we’re broke, so it’s been using the home espresso machine lately, and for some time to come, it seems. It’s a Starbucks Barista machine, and it makes a decent latte. Actually better than some of the Starbucks I’ve been to. (Especially the ones at the airports. They’re way too weak! )

Anyway, enough ranting, back to work…
