Sleep.. Beautiful sleep..

Posted by Thomas on 27 Apr 2004 | Tagged as: General Ramblings

The week is an exercise of trying to stay awake, while the weekend is an exercise of how much sleep you can get. Coming into the office ain’t no big deal; it’s just that the ‘team-building’ aspect is slightly pointless when we’re spread out over multiple offices, so I see exactly nobody.

Planning Summer vacations is always fun, and we have doozies coming up. Our weekends are mostly booked from now until July, which is kind of a pain. Concerts, trips, and weddings make it up.

If you know me, you’d know that I’m a freak when it comes to commercial avation. It was either being a pilot, or working in computers. Due to a variety of reasons, one of which includes $$$, I chose computers. That’s fine. But I still enjoy flying every now and then in MS Flight Simulator. Well, for our wedding anniversary, we’re going to Long Beach to fly a Boeing 717-200 simulator! Yeah, I’m stoked. This is the real deal, and man, talk about a thrill. I’m already excited about it, and it’s over a month off.

Oh, yeah, of course we’re going to get some quality Disneyland time in. Count on that. We’ve already bought our tickets, actually. Probably going to get annual passes again, to get us past a dry spell of not going for awhile. :)
We almost hit 100 degrees here in Phoenix, but not quite. We’ll soon be hotter than the face of the sun! :)

So what’s going on today?

So what’s going on today? Just hanging in the office, doing some work, waiting for the day to waste away. You know, the usual.

What’s in the news? Again, just the usual. Just a store that sells both furniture and porn. What a combination, eh?

Remember the SPOT watch that I talked about last month? Well, it’s still running good, except with one small problem. It likes to reboot. Like, often. At least once a day. If I shake my hand, like dudes do when they’re done washing their hands, it decides to reboot, or just shut off. It’s a Microsoft product, so I guess I shouldnt’ be too surprised that it likes to do that, but it’s still annoying, nonetheless. I think I might call them and have them replace it. When I get around to it.

Ready for another vacation..

Yes, you heard me. Summer can’t get here early enough, even though it’s hotter than the face of the Sun. Why? Because it means vacation. And even though we took a nice one last month, I can always use another.

Work? Oh, it’s been interesting, thanks for asking. With the recent cut in telecommuting, it’s really draining my desire for work. It’s a lot harder to get stuff done in the office, believe it or not.

Monday Morning means extra coffee..

Well, they’ve had a recent ‘change’ at my job, and now they’re cutting back on telecommuting. I dunno how I feel about that. I think it’s a bad thing, in that the hours I work, it’s much easier to manage time when your home. So now we can only telecommute two days a week, and that might seem like a lot, but it’s a big change.

Looks like they found a face on the Shroud of Turin.. Pretty cool.

Mom with 14 kids, going on 15..

This lady is pregnant with her 15th kid. And they’ve named every one of them starting with the letter ‘J”. Weird.. Best quote, though:

“Our house is like a giant Cracker Barrel,” [she] said. “It’s got this huge porch it goes on forever. We may get lost in the middle of it all.” Uhh yeah.. Do I even have to mention that this is from Arkansas?

Like she needed the money!

Yep, J. Lo’s momma won $2.4 MILLION (with pinky finger next to mouth) on a slot machine. (See the news story here!) Can you believe that? Just makes you sick, doesn’t it? Well, maybe because it’s J. Lo.

Taxes. You know you love them. I know I sure do! Especially for once, when I don’t owe anything! I know everyone from the IRS reads this site, so I want to say “Thanks!” for finally removing the marriage penalty. It’s about time that we don’t have to pay more just because we haven’t spit out a kid yet. Give me a break.

But I digress. Happy April.
