Down, but not out..

Wow. Time like, flies, or something.

August is finally just about gone. What’s that mean? Yep. Cooler temps. I think I mentioned that before, but it never hurts to talk about it again. It’s too hot.

September? Another busy month. Wife gone to Texas this coming weekend. Then the weekend after that, another trip to Disneyland. Have too many Hilton HHonors points to blow, so we get a free hotel for the weekend. Not too shabby. Since we have annual passes to the park, the trip cost should be pretty low, which is always a nice thing.

Then it’s off to CCNA Boot Camp in Scottsdale. Which is going to be very intense, but at least I’ll have a certification. Always nice to have that.

Look for an update later this week, punks.

Another day, another $$$..

Yes, time has passed.

Another busy week in my household. With the wife back to work, that means it’s time for me to focus on my work, which I’ve been doing with much vigor. (Nobody uses words like vigor much anymore.)

One major thing is that I’ve been studying for the CCNA exam, or Cisco Certified Network Administrator. It’s the lowest of Cisco’s tests, and a lot of it is review, but some of the router stuff is new to me, so it’s interesting. Very dry reading, though, so it’s not a good bed time book.

This weekend, my buddy from SFO is in town; so that means plenty of fun. This time, it’s probably going to be fun in the sun, as we tube the Salt River. I’m really excited, as my disk just sizzles with the thought of being outside for that long, with nary a shade in sight. So that means I lather up with sun tan lotion at least 2 or 3 times. All in the name of fun.

Video is fun…

So while I’m typing this, I’m also downloading some video from the handy-dandy video camera into my PC, so I can edit it and turn it into a DVD. Gotta love having a fast computer. :) What’s the video? No, not any type of ‘bad’ stuff, but a wedding I taped for some friends way back in the month of June. Just getting around to editing it. (What’s that for speed?!?)

Wow. Looks like we picked a good time to go to Orlando last month.. Totally missed the hurricane and such. Hope nobody gets hurt. Stuff like that makes me happy that I live in good ole’ AZ, though. Yeah, it’s hot; but we don’t have too many natural disasters like that. (Just the dust storms that cause major accidents on I-10, but other than that…)

Monday, again.

Yet another week. It’s August, so that means it’s still super-hot in good ole’ AZ. That’s okay; just around the corner it should be cooling off.

The weekend was mostly working on people’s computers. :) First my Aunt, then my friend. No biggie; good times were had by all.. And they both fed me dinner for doing it, so that’s always nice.

I did pick up a new computer, though. My old one was, well, old. Like really old. Like a Duron-900 MHZ. That’s pretty old.

I picked up a Dell 3.2 gig P4 with a gig o’ RAM, and a new fangled PCI-Express video card. It’s pretty sweet, and compared to my old machine, the difference is night and day. Picked up Doom 3, as well, and it’s pretty good. A little scary to play in the middle of the night, but the graphics are just amazing.

Lemme see what else… Work is the same. The wife is good; she goes back to work this week. That’s both a bad thing (not having her around), and also a good thing (she starts her new position as a reading specialist.)

Monday..

Yes, it’s that wonderful day known as Monday. That’s okay. It also means it’s August, which means we’re one month closer to it being slightly cooler, which is always great. But at least it’s a dry heat, eh?

I uploaded the pictures from Castaway Cay, Disney’s island, into the pictures area. Most of them will leave you wondering what they’re pictures of, like I do, but some of them are half-way interesting. Of course, I’m not in any of the pictures; probably because I spent most of my time on the island sleeping under an umbrella. Maybe my snoring kept the fishies away? I guess it could happen.
