Yes, Friday…

It’s here. Happy day.

So this was my last week in my group at work, and I move back next week to my old group. It will be a cool change, as I got along with a lot of those people, but it will be a lot of work too. So that will be good, I guess. Keep telling myself I made the right decision.

We were going to try and make it to Disneyland this weekend, but that kind of fell through. Oh well.

Geocaching Panics Terror Officials

Posted by Thomas on 18 Jan 2006 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Ahh yes.. The joys of Geocaching.

Luckily, our geocaching adventure didn’t end up like the guy in the article below, but my wife and I were accused of being drug dealers/junkies. Good times.

From the article:

Rounding a corner on his motorcycle to finish rigging his cache, he was greeted by a barricade of police cars and a bomb squad. “I got off my bike and three officers approached me very cautiously, hands on their holsters,” he said. “I was trying to turn off my MP3 player and I think they were worried I was going for a detonator.”

A stabilized version of the infamous Bigfoot film.

Posted by Thomas on 17 Jan 2006 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Okay, not sure I believe in bigfoot and all that, but this page has a ’stabilized’ version of the Bigfoot film, so it’s pretty cool to see the detail…

Check it out.

Finally, an alarm clock for me.

Posted by Thomas on 17 Jan 2006 | Tagged as: General Ramblings

So check out this alarm clock.

Yeah, it basically heats up a little smell o’ the coffee to perk you up in the morning.

Knowing that the wife really can’t stand coffee, this probably wouldn’t last long in the bedroom.

Then again, it’s probably just cheaper to move the Mr. Coffee machine into the bedroom, set the timer, and have it brew there for the smell.

Whatever.

A little space of the kitchen…

That's one grinder, one 'pod' coffeemaker, one 'regular' coffeemaker, and an espresso machine.

Sweeeet…. New Mac’s.

Well.. Apple finally released some Intel-based machines.

All I can say: Nice. I’m pretty excited by this, and I think they’re going to be pretty good machines.

Now to just start saving my quarters..

The fun of MAME…

Posted by Thomas on 05 Jan 2006 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Yeah, okay. I mentioned it before. I love MAME.

What’s MAME? Okay. It’s an arcade emulator. Which means me dumping all those quarters into TRON and other games didn’t go to waste, and can still be relived at home.

I was originally thinking about building a cabinet for my addiction, such as a cocktail cabinet. (See Google here for examples.) But then I settled on something from a company called Arcade In a Box.

Basically, everything fits inside the box, and then you just hook it up to whatever display you want, and you’re ready to go. Call it a portable arcade, if you will.

I ordered the plans, and it seems pretty straightforward. I’m sure I’ll have pictures up once I start. Just pricing everything out, and it’s actually pretty reasonable.

Centipede in no time.

When MAME Cabinets go bad…

Posted by Thomas on 04 Jan 2006 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

So I’m actually getting ready to price out and build a MAME cabinet. Originally thinking about/going with a cocktail arrangement, but man, that just wouldn’t work for two-player games like Puzzle Fighter and the like. Options, optins…

One thing I do know is that I don’t want my build to end up on this dude’s website. There are some pretty funny ones, though.

Enjoy!
