Yeah.. The heat is on. And I don’t mean in a Axel Foley kind of way. Not the cool hot.
We’d hoped to have gotten the backyard started by now, by doing some pluming work, but it just didn’t seem to make it. So that means I’ll probably start to work on it in July, when we’re back from our trips, just when it’s good and hot. Tom + shirt off + July = ewww. There. I said it. I knew you were thinking it.
This week is the wife’s last week at school, and then she’s off the Summer. So that means I need for her to get a job at a certain coffee place. Actually, I guess that would probably be a bad idea. Anyhoo, it will be nice having her home for awhile.
Especially since we’re busy with da’ trips. It will be nice going to San Francisco, but the day we get back from that, we fly out to Denver to a reading conference for the wife for 8 days. So basically, we’re not home long.
We recently replaced our cable company DVR, the Motorola 8000 or some such, with the new TiVo version, a dual tuner model.
This version fixes the main advantage of the cable one: record two shows at once. Other than that, TiVo beats the cable companies hands-down:
- Cable Companies box crashed. It would randomly lock up, or act like it wasn’t taking button input, and then all of a sudden, it would do all the buttons at once.
- Cable Company box didn’t tape other shows it thought you might like. Sounds small, but it was cool to always have other shows to watch.
- Cable Company box you couldn’t get the shows off, to say, burn to a DVD or something. With TiVo, it hooks into your home network, and you can take shows with you to watch later, or burn to DVD. Also you can get information on TiVo, let the weather, or even listen to your music or view your photos. It’s cool.
So it’s nice to have TiVo back.

So I spent the weekend in beautiful, 70 degree, San Diego.
Why?
Well, this guy is getting married:

So of course, that means one thing.
Bachelor Party.
Yeah, yeah, I know it was Mother’s Day weekend. But when you’re busy, ‘hip cats’ like us, your dates are limited.
What did we do?
Drink.
Then we drank a little more.
And for some reason, watched a lot of television. Go fiigure.
San Diego, though, was great. I think if the wife and I ever moved to a California city, it would probably have to be San Diego.
Or just wait until the whole thing slides into the ocean.. Either way.
Oh, and tomorrow is his birthday.. You’re old and stuff.

A laptop, an IPod, and an iced venti latte.. What more do you need?

Yep, it’s May.
Now, usually, that means 100+ degree temps here in the beautiful valley of the Sun.
But I have to admit, our nice temps have really dragged on for awhile. Like, almost, until now. That’s pretty unheard of, usually.
So that probably means that this Summer is going to extend until Christmas. Ehhhh.
Took a few pictures the other day of the Antonov An-124-100 Ruslan. This plane is parked every now and then here at Williams Gateway Airport.. Usually picking up or delivering some Apache Helicopters of the Israeli Army.
Here’s a picture of part of it:
(I couldn’t get the whole plane in the picture, due to the fence, and the fact that we usually don’t carry a step-ladder around in the car to take pictures over the fence, but you get the idea.)
You can check out a few more shots of it here!
