Check it out.

We’re back..

..and man, it was fun.

As you could see from some of the pictures, we did a lot, and saw a lot.

Of course, you didn’t see any pictures of our Segway tour of Disney’s California Adventure.

Well, would you believe we got rained out in Anaheim?

Yes.  Hasn’t rained in months, they said, and it rained all morning, and they canceled the tour.  They did get to demonstrate the Segway to us in the little conference room, but that’s it.

And, of course, we couldn’t do the tour the next day since we had to drive back to Phoenix.

The Price is Right with Drew Carey?  Fun.  We didn’t get on the show, though, but we did get really good seats.  No air date has been set yet, though, so stay tuned.   Drew did a really good job, but you realize how effortlessly Bob Barker did the show.  Drew made a few mistakes, and we even had to retape the Showcase Showdown when he reads the prices to see who won.  But it was good times.

The Mazda Miata?  It was nice.  But not a lot of storage space.

So I fixed that by wrecking it. :)

Well, she hit me.  We checked out of Planet Hollywood Casino, and I was driving it out of the parking garage to pick the wife and luggage up, and she cut in front of me and I couldn’t stop in time.  Luckily, we got the extra insurance, so we drove it to Las Vegas Airport and picked up another car.  This time, though, it was just a PT Cruiser, which, I have to admit, wasn’t too bad.  It had much more space, but of course we lost the acceleration and handling of the Miata, but it was a much more comfortable ride.

So now that we’re back, look for the rest of the pictures soon.  We got some good ones.

Tomorrow, back to work.  Ugh.

Not too bad…

A day in Vegas.

So, we got into Vegas about 7pm last night.

So far, what a blast.

Our rental was going to be a “PT Cruiser or Similar”, so I was worried about getting, well, a PT Cruiser.

Instead, they roll up a  Mazda MX-5 Miata.  Not a bad ride, of course, we also had to repack our suitcase, as it didn’t fit in the trunk.   But the always resourceful wife made it fit in two different bags, but even so, it it was a tight fit.  But there is nothing like driving down the freeway with the top down, or driving the strip in a convertible.  Good times.

We spent the first night at Sam’s Town Casino, which is off the strip on Bolder Highway.  I got a great rate of $60 at this hotel, and when I checked in, they told me that they upgraded us to a suite.   Not bad!  And the suite was, well, sweet.  Two flat panels, a full jacuzzi tub, and a great shower.

And then, to top it off, the wife won $400 playing bingo.  It’s actually the first time she (or, well, US) have ever won at bingo, so that was very cool!

Today we moved over to the Planet Hollywood Hotel on the strip, and, trying the $20 trick,  got a nice upgrade to the 20th floor and a view of the Ballagio fountains.  Not bad.

So off we go to the Pinball Hall of Fame.  It was very cool.  Not only did they have over a 100 pinball machines, dating back to 1948, they also had a few of the classic arcade games, like TRON and Asteroids.  I promptly got 1st place in TRON. (That wasn’t much of a feat, as the scores were pretty low.)  But it was very cool to play the arcade game again after all these years.  The wife also really enjoyed it.

Tonight is also Wayne Brady, which should be a good show, and tomorrow is relaxing and just having a good time.

And not only did they have many cool pinball machines, they had a perfect TRON. Score!
