The Most Expensive Starbucks drink EVAR…

Posted by Thomas on 28 Dec 2007 | Tagged as: Blogroll, General Ramblings

So this guy had a free coupon for a Starbucks drink, and wanted to make the most expensive one ever.  It turned out to be a  A 13 shot venti soy hazelnut vanilla cinnamon white mocha with extra white mocha and caramel. It cost a total of $13.76 (with tax).

Doesn’t sound too tasty, and I guess it wasn’t, either.

Wow.. Glad that’s over..

..so Christmas,  once again, has come and gone.

Of course, it was a blast. :)

After having another excellent Super Happy Fun Day, we went over to my family’s for Christmas Eve, then woke up early the next morning to get the turkey and our house ready for the Mrs. family to come over for Christmas.  Like the wife got up at 4:30am early.

Crazy.

But it turned out good.  Got some cool things (a coffee roaster for that totally fresh coffee, a nice stereo for my car, and a new mouse for my computer,  among other things.  All in all, it was very cool.

Then, of course, I started noticing my throat was starting to hurt that night.  And sure enough, I came down with a cold.  Oh well. :(

The nice thing is of course that I don’t have to go back to work until next week, so it’s just me and the wife, and we can get some time alone together, and just relax.

Merry Christmas!

Just a shout-out to all my peeps (that means friends… This slang is so cool!)  that I hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas!

It’s 6am, and I’m up helping the wife get our first turkey in the oven and on it’s way to deliciousness-town.  All aboard! TOOT! TOOT! (Yeah, I haven’t had any coffee yet.)

Looking for a good White Elephant Gift?

… I was.  And after some Googling, I came up with this.

  1. Take a cheesy picture of yourself.
  2. ‘Soften’ it in an image editor, and blur the borders for that “Sears Photo Center” look.
  3. Print it in 8×10 format.
  4. Find the cheaptest frame you can get.
  5. Optionally,  sign the picture, with your favorite message. (I used “Be cool, stay in school!”)
  6. Enjoy in the fact that your beautiful face will be hanging in someone else’s house for all to see. (Or in the garage, or maybe even the bathroom.)

And here is the finished product:

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas…

.. is fast approaching.

As I write this, I’m at Starbucks, in my old ‘hood’, if you’re hip like that.  (And by old ‘hood’, I mean Dobson and Chandler Blvd.)  We have a videoconference today in the office, so I’m making an appearance.

Hopefully today, though, I’ll be finishing up my Christmas shopping.  Pretty much done, but I need to find something else for the wife.  She knows about too many of her presents already, so I need to make it right.

With Christmas less than a week away, it only can mean one thing:  Super Happy Fun Day 2007.   This year we’re going to ‘mix’ it up a little bit, and have SHFD before Christmas, instead of the day after.  Whatever. That’s fine.  As long as I can get my game on.  (And again, when I say ‘get my game on’, I mean lose incredibly in Super Puzzle Fighter Turbo.   Like mad-awful, I tell ya.  But I’ve been practicing.  I still stink, though.)

And with Christmas, of course, also comes cold weather, even for the QC.  Lately it’s been in the 30’s at night, with highs in the mid to low 60’s.  This is the reason we live in Arizona, all you out-of-towners-who-think-we’re-crazy.

This one is for you, Cary..

UPS saved 3 Million Gallons of Gas– By Not Turning Left

Posted by Thomas on 12 Dec 2007 | Tagged as: General Ramblings

Mapping out routes for its drivers, drastically reducing the number of left-hand turns they make helped the company shave 28.5 million miles off its delivery routes, which has resulted in savings of roughly three million gallons of gas and has reduced CO2 emissions by 31,000 metric tons.

Any weirdness?

I just happened to move my website to a new hosting provider, as my previous one was just having way too much downtime. (Like all of last Friday.. Very annoying.)

So if you see anything on the website that just doesn’t seem to work, I’m a-workin’ on it.
