Which one, which one?

So, we’re getting a puppy.

We’ve talked about this for awhile. Me, growing up, was always a cat person. The wife? A dog person. Compromise? No pet, it seems. (And at the same time, we didn’t really live where would have pets easily. Having a dog in an apartment or renting wasn’t a great solution.)

Now that we own a house with a large backyard, we’ve been talking about a dog again. Then we also have to get on that is easy on my allergies, and I think we found it in the West Highland Terrier breed.

They’re very cute dogs, actually.

So our friends actually breed them, and are giving us a great deal on a puppy.  They were born a little more than a month ago, and we went over there yesterday to pick out which of the two girls we wanted.

It was pretty tough.

First off, they both look very similar, and neither of them have really developed personalities yet.  So we tentatively picked one of them, and put a collar on her.  She wasn’t happy about that.

But it’s going to be very hard to pick exactly which one:

Maybe both? {Naw.} Stay tuned. And for a few more adorable pictures, check out my Flickr page.

Gotta love the Monsoon’s

Posted by Thomas on 29 Aug 2008 | Tagged as: General Ramblings, Picture

So as you may (or may not) know, we had quite a monsoon storm here in Phoenix.

Lucky for us out in the QC, it was mostly rain, lightning, and of course, thunder.  We didn’t have the strong winds that caused a lot of issues in the valley.

I did grab the camera and take some shots and video of the storm, though.  It was probably one of the largest lightning storm’s I’ve seen in quite awhile. Here’s a video that just shows how much lightning was in this storm:

And, of course, took some pictures:

…and it was fun.

The drive?  Long.

The park?  Fun.

After leaving Phoenix at about 5pm, we finally arrived at the hotel at about 11.  A few hours sleep later, and we headed out to the park and made the opening.  We almost made it to closing, but decided to head back to the hotel at about 10pm, but we were able to ride everything we wanted to.

I finally beat the wife in a ’shooting’ game..  The Toy Story Mania ride.  That, of course, is after she once again schooled me in Buzz Lightyear’s shooting game.  She’s just good at them, I guess.

The hotel, the Crowne Plaza Anaheim, was pretty good.  For the price we paid, it was excellent.  The room was large and the bed was very comfortable.  Their shuttle to Disneyland was great, too.

I’ve uploaded all the pictures to my Flickr page.  Check them out here.

A Review of the Sprint Airave

Posted by Thomas on 21 Aug 2008 | Tagged as: Electronics, Reviews

We live in the boonies. The QC. Queen Creek, AZ. As a result, our cell phone coverage isn’t the greatest. We have Sprint, and all issues aside, we’ve been pretty happy with them. (Their costs and plans are routinely lower than Verizon, for example. And before you ask why I don’t have an IPhone, it’s due to a few reasons, such as not having great signal from AT&T in the QC, slow data speed, and not being able to customize the IPhone much.)

But unfortunately, we never received great Sprint signal here in the house. I purchased a cell phone signal booster a few years ago, and it does a great job, but I mounted it in the laundry room, since it was the center of the house. What did that mean? Well, it worked great if you stood in the hallway or in the laundry room. Not a great solution.

That’s why I was excited when Sprint announced the Airave earlier this year.  And it finally went on sale Monday.

So, did the Sprint Airave work out?  Click “Continue Reading..” to read my review of the Sprint Airave.

Well….

..yeah.

So, as you may remember, we attempted to go to Disneyland and LA with our friends from Texas about a month ago.

I, on the other hand, spent most of the time in the hotel room sick.

So we’re going to try again this weekend.

I got a great deal on a hotel for this weekend ($50 a night at a 4 star hotel), so the wife and I will try this again.  I’ve prepared my bubble to avoid contact with anyone, and maybe I’ll just wear some medical masks on my face all the time.  Oh, and I’ve loaded up on vitamins.

Should be a good trip.  Look for pictures and updates on the road.
